Philanthropy
Alpha Chi Omega has adopted the support of victims of domestic violence as a national altruistic project. All members, collegiate and alumnae, provide service in their community to local shelters or organizations that aid victims of domestic violence. The emphasis of this project is to offer members’ time and energy to women, children, and organizations in need.
Our chapter, Beta Eta, works closely with a local organization the Women's Refuge House. Refuge House is a safe house, sheltering woman and children that have been victims of domestic violence. This establishment protects its members with a witness-protection-like program and also helps them to start a new life without violence. They also provide counseling for the women and children that seek their help.
As a chapter we hold an annual Charity Golf Tournament Par-Tee. This philanthropic event is a huge hit in which fraternities, sororities, fsu students and teachers, parents and alumnae participate in. . The event is also sponsored by many businesses in the community. Our joint efforts raise nearly $10,000 for Refuge House. The tournament is a lot of hard work, but all those involved have a really great time!!! The chapter also donates/participates in many greek, campus wide, and Tallahassee Community Philanthropies.
